At Abyss Scuba School, we’re incredibly proud of our on-site heated pool — it’s the beating heart of our dive centre here at Littlehampton Marina. Not every dive school has the luxury of its own pool, and ours was designed with one goal in mind: to make learning to dive safe, comfortable, and fun for everyone.

How It All Began
When we opened our new centre, we wanted to create a space where students could learn in the best possible environment. Building our very own pool was the answer. From the planning stages to filling it for the first time, it’s been a labour of love — and we couldn’t be happier with the results.
One of the most unique features is the viewing window. This isn’t just for show — it means that parents, partners, and grandparents can watch all the action without getting wet. For nervous first-timers, it’s reassuring to know loved ones are nearby. It also makes for some incredible photos and videos, perfect for capturing those first underwater breaths.
Warm, Comfortable and Welcoming
There’s a common myth that scuba diving in the UK means cold, uncomfortable water. Not here! Our pool is heated to a cosy, tropical temperature, so you can focus on the experience rather than the chill.
We also keep the water crystal-clear with regular testing and professional cleaning. Safety and hygiene are always at the top of our list, giving you complete peace of mind whether you’re dipping a toe for the first time or mastering advanced skills.

Who Uses the Pool?
Our pool is far more than just a training space — it’s a place where confidence grows and friendships are made. Here’s a snapshot of what happens inside:
PADI Bubblemaker & Seal Team – Fun and adventurous introductions to diving for kids.
Discover Scuba Diving – A relaxed, friendly try-dive session for anyone curious about scuba.
Open Water & ReActivate courses – Learn and practise essential skills before heading into the ocean.
Rescue Diver training – Safe, realistic scenarios in a controlled environment.
On Friday evenings, it comes alive with family-friendly sessions — whether it’s Seal Team adventures for children or Discover Scuba sessions for adults, there’s always something happening.
More Than a Pool – A Community Hub
Our pool is central to everything we do at Abyss. It’s not only for divers but also for our Holiday clubs and Alternative Provision programmes. For many young people, the pool becomes a place to build confidence, learn water safety, and discover new skills in a safe, supportive space.
We’ve seen countless smiles through that viewing window — from proud parents, excited children, and newly certified divers taking their first steps (or fin-kicks!) into the underwater world.

It holds Twenty-Eight thousand litres of perfectly filtered water.
It’s kept at a consistent 30*c, so nice and warm all year round.
The viewing window is one of the most popular spots in the building!
It’s hosted everyone from complete beginners to divers working towards professional qualifications.
