Build on your Divemaster experience with the PADI Assistant Instructor course at Abyss Scuba School. Develop your teaching skills, practise clear demonstrations and learn how to support student divers as they gain new skills and confidence.
The course forms the first part of the PADI Instructor Development Course and can be completed as a standalone qualification. Through knowledge development, pool training and open water workshops, you’ll prepare for a greater teaching role with guidance and feedback throughout.
Course Highlights
Knowledge Development
Explore the PADI teaching system, course standards and the responsibilities of an Assistant Instructor. Learn how to plan lessons, explain diving concepts clearly and adapt your approach to support different learners.
Confined Water Teaching
Practise skill demonstrations and teaching presentations in our private heated indoor pool. Develop your briefing, observation and feedback skills while learning how to help students overcome difficulties in a controlled environment.
Open Water Workshops
Build your experience of organising training sessions, delivering briefings and supervising students within your role. Practical workshops help you apply PADI standards and develop your judgement when supporting open water training.
Certification
After successfully completing the course requirements and assessments, you can apply for the PADI Assistant Instructor rating. This allows you to take on additional teaching responsibilities within PADI standards and the supervision requirements for each programme.
You can later progress to the Open Water Scuba Instructor programme and PADI Instructor Examination, subject to meeting the relevant entry requirements.
